Bobby Shmurda is considered the pioneer of Brooklyn drill music, which is a subgenre of hip hop and rap that contains influences of both trap music as well as Chicago and UK drill music. The end result is a beat that you can get down to in the club or hype you up during a workout.
But since his song “Hot N***a” skyrocketed him into the mainstream music scene in 2014, Bobby Shmurda has found himself with a little bit too much money to handle. And what do you do when you’ve got some disposable income? You spend it on jewelry, of course.
Let’s take a look at an absolutely insane chain that the American rapper just purchased, as well as some of the other jewelry in his collection.
The new chain in question was one that he took to Instagram to flaunt almost immediately after receiving it. This was created by New York-based creator Benny the Jeweler, who is known for doing custom work for celebrities and other influencers.
The chain is a giant, iced-out GS9 emblem, which is a hip hop collective based in New York City. Shmurda is a current member along with other notable names like Rowdy Rebel and Corey Finesse.
The piece is decked out in solid diamonds and gold on all sides, and it dangles from a stunning gold chain. We can only imagine how much he spent on it, but when we take one look at it, we think it was probably worth it. It’s a piece that not only looks stunning, but also has sentimental meaning.
That’s one of the best things about a piece of jewelry: it can help tell a story without breaking up your style. Shmurda’s love for custom pendants doesn’t just stop here. Earlier in the year, he was gifted a different custom pendant that has a spark of its own.
The chain is a giant nameplate custom pendant that spells out “Shmurda” in huge capital letters. And the best part? The entire thing glows in the dark. So not only will this chain catch glares and stares during the day, but it will keep turning heads even after the sun’s gone down.
This is a giant piece, and we can’t help but feel like it must be having an effect on his posture because of how much it weighs. But when you’re able to wear your name around your neck in solid gold and diamonds, it’s indicative that you’ve come a long way and garnered enough success to do so.
The thing is, you don’t need to pioneer an entire music genre just to get your hands on a high-quality custom piece. 6 Ice lets you customize your own word pendants, picture pendants, and more so you can embody your own individual preferences while still having full control over your style.
With all this power, you could make your very own Shmurda or GS9 pendants to match Shmurda’s look. Or, you can make it completely unique. Either way, Shmurda will probably be jealous that he could’ve saved a ton of money and gotten the same quality pieces.
While Shmurda can wear pendants all day long, he’s still a busy guy with places to be. And rather than keeping track of him with a phone or an Apple watch, he naturally had to get a custom Rolex watch from one of the top names in custom jewelry.
Elliot Eliantte is one of the most famous jewelry designers on the planet, and Shmurda was one of the first to obtain his new line of custom Rolex watches. It’s covered in pure diamonds and gold, and it probably ran him into the couple-hundred thousand dollar range.
The thing is, this wasn’t even the only piece of jewelry he got at the same time. Eliantte also gave him some matching rings and pendants to coincide with the watch’s unique purple watch face. All in all, it combines to form a super balanced and nuanced look despite a lot of the flashiness that the purple face conveys.
Colorful watch faces are a fairly recent trend, and 6 Ice has you covered with almost every color of the rainbow. Our Iced presidential watches look just like the custom pieces made by Eliante, and you can choose between black, red, green, or blue hues on the watch face to match whatever fit you decide to wear that day.
Despite the fact that Bobby Shmurda has solidified his place in the world of hip hop, he had to spend quite some time being out of the game. In 2016, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, weapons possession, and reckless endangerment along with several other members of GS9.
While he was supposed to serve seven years, it was reduced to five after receiving credit for the two years he served awaiting trial. While in prison, he continued writing and was featured in 6ix9ine’s song “Stoopid,” where he rapped over the prison telephone. After finally being released in 2016, it was widely celebrated across the hip hop community.
And the hip hop community wasn’t disappointed. On July 23, 2021, Shmurda performed in his first public show and released a new song “No Time for Sleep (Freestyle)” on September 3, 2021.
Upon Shmurda’s release, some people celebrated a little bit harder than others, and fellow GS9 member Rowdy Rebel was one of them. He got Shmurda one of the most insane pendants we’ve ever seen. It’s a highly detailed, diamond-encrusted ghoul with blue gemstones in the eyes, golden dreadlocks, and diamond-studded grillz. Plus, it glows in the dark like his Shmurda pendant.
While we’re not sure exactly how much Rebel paid for this piece, we can only imagine. Detailed pendants like this don’t often run cheap, but it was a nice gesture for him to give to his friend after his release. And considering Shmurda seems to wear it quite often, it’s proof that he holds this piece near and dear to his heart.
Bobby Shmurda is a unique figure in the hip hop space. While he founded an entire music genre, the controversy surrounding his five-year arrest has placed him in a bit of murky territory. Regardless, it’s nearly impossible to deny that his jewelry is entirely one of a kind.
From custom pendants that glow in the dark to beautifully studded diamond watches, Shmurda has proven that he’s still a force to be reckoned with.
The thing is, you don’t need to be a hip hop icon to look like one. 6 Ice has a wide selection of high-quality hip hop jewelry to fit all tastes. With fast shipping and a lifetime guarantee, you can have confidence that your pieces will last for as long as you’re ready to wear them.
