It’s not often that Vine stars pivot into becoming UFC champions, but Jake Paul is an exception. Love or hate him: This Paul brother has achieved an immense amount of success in a pretty short amount of time, allowing him to drop quite a few racks on stunning pieces of jewelry.
One of his most iconic pieces is his “Sleepy McGregor” chain in reference to one of the most requested UFC match-ups of all time. Let’s take a look at the meaning behind this intricate necklace as well as how you can get a similar pendant without dropping a cool 100k.
Conor McGregor is one of the most infamous mixed martial arts fighters in the country. A former UFC featherweight and lightweight double champion, McGregor’s pompous attitude has gotten him into some hot water.
You’ve probably heard of him from his first-ever professional boxing match in which he was defeated by another huge name in the fighting game: Floyd Mayweather. McGregor’s fights continue to gain national attention, and his fight against Dustin Poirier is no exception.
Poirier is a renowned UFC fighter who has won against McGregor a few times now, but one of these fights gained national attention when he knocked McGregor out in just the second round of fighting. This left McGregor lying unconscious on the ground, holding his head in confusion.
So why exactly did Jake Paul memorialize the moment in his highly detailed pendant? Paul has been wanting to fight McGregor for a long time now, and the rivalry between the two has made their prospective match-up one of the most anticipated in MMA history.
While the verdict’s still out on whether or not they’ll actually spar in the future, this pendant makes it clear that Paul is hoping to prove himself against one of fighting’s greatest competitors.
Plus, in the Instagram video that Paul posted to show off the piece, Paul ends it by telling McGregor that if he doesn’t win his upcoming fight, their “$50 million” bet is off the table. While we’re not sure what exactly they’re betting on, it’s clear that these two have some unfinished business to settle in the ring.
And spoiler alert: McGregor did go on to lose that second fight…
As humorous as this pendant is, one of the first things you probably noticed is how highly detailed it is. All of McGregor’s tattoos are hand-painted onto the pendant’s ceramic exterior. You can even see individual strands of his beard hair. Top all of this off with a small NyQuil bottle in his hand, and Paul’s got himself one of the most detailed pendants we’ve ever seen.
This piece was custom-made by Benny the Jeweler in New York City, who is renowned for making extravagant jewelry for some of the biggest A-list celebrities. Benny is known for the amount of detail he puts into his work, and this pendant is a prime example of what he’s capable of.
But craftsmanship alone isn’t enough to rack up a $100k price tag. So what exactly made this piece so valuable?
If you look closely, McGregor’s shorts are made entirely of pure diamonds, handset over 500 grams of white gold. It’s a bit of a snarky way to incorporate some gems into the piece, but it falls in line with the former Vine star’s arrogance.
Plus, the piece dangles from a diamond tennis chain made of one-carat stones, which easily hikes up the value of the piece to an exorbitant extent.
With that said, this is a statement piece in a more metaphorical sense of the word. While we’re not sure if Paul actually wears this thing outside of his home, it’s definitely symbolic of the rivalry between himself and McGregor.
Believe it or not, spending $100k on a custom pendant just isn’t enough for Paul. In fact, that’s just the beginning of his extravagant collection.
Let’s take a look at some more of his most prized possessions so you can get a better idea of what types of accessories best suit your own style.
Ever since his time as an internet star, Jake Paul has always been seen as a bit of a bad influence on younger audiences. His attitudes and actions have earned him the nickname “Problem Child,” and this giant $255k pendant shows that he’s fully embracing his backhanded nickname.
This word pendant was debuted prior to his fight against Tyron Woodley, and if he were able to wear this in the ring, it’d essentially shield his entire abdomen. It’s infused with 95 carats of VS diamonds and 14k gold. Add that up, and it equals an alleged pound of weight hanging around his neck.
While you may not want to be associated with being a problem child, sporting a pendant is the perfect way to show off your beliefs without needing to say a word. This Crucifix Pendant can represent devotion to your faith while simultaneously doubling as a statement piece that will weigh down your neck, just like Paul’s custom pendant.
Cartier is one of the most respected luxury jewelry brands on the market and considering Jake Paul wrote an entire rap devoted to the luxury retailer (“Cartier Vision”). It’s no wonder that he had no issue dropping another $100k on a diamond tennis bracelet.
Typically, even the most stylish Cartier bracelets don’t cost more than $15,000, but this custom piece uses pure diamonds and high-quality white gold to make it stand out from similar items. It’s definitely a gorgeous bracelet, but you can get something nearly identical for just a fraction of the price.
This 5mm Round Cut Diamond Tennis Bracelet is loaded with the finest cubic zirconia diamonds that reflect the light just as well as pure diamonds. It looks nearly identical to Paul’s piece, exuding nearly the same amount of finesse and polish. The only difference is that this one starts at just $99.
Jake Paul went from internet prankster to respected MMA fighter almost overnight, and one of his more anticipated potential match-ups is with one of the legends: Conor McGregor. But after McGregor was knocked out in the second round of one of his previous matches, Jake Paul busted out his trolling expertise and had a custom pendant made to humiliate him.
This highly detailed piece depicting McGregor knocked out on the ground is made with white gold and pure diamonds, running a price tag of $100,000. Coupled with some of his other pieces ranging in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, Paul is definitely no stranger to amping up his style with some bling.
6 Ice is one of the finest purveyors of luxury jewelry on the market. Each piece is backed with a lifetime guarantee, so you can have confidence in your investment before you decide to buy. From high-quality custom pendants to detailed chain links, we’ve got what you need to take your next outfit to a whole new level.
